What God is Doing for Us

“…he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father” John 14:12

"I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Revelation 19:10

God Taking Care of Every Need

I want to take a moment to give thanks and praise to God for His amazing goodness and faithfulness.

I graduated from Oral Roberts University in May of 2008, and with big ambitions, moved to Dallas, Texas for further schooling. Unfortunately, my self-appointed plans fell through: I totaled my truck had no vehicle, no money, no job and no unemployment benefits, and was living week-to-week off my credit cards in a highway motel in an unfamiliar city. Basically, I was one step above being totally homeless and on the streets and I had hit rock-bottom.

After months of fruitless job searching, I bought a beater car and limped back to Denver with all of my remaining earthly possessions loaded in one compact carload. On November 17th, 2008, I arrived in Denver and some dear old friends took me into their home free of charge while I was searching for work. On the very day I returned, another dear friend handed me $500. Another friend anonymously blessed me with $200 for Christmas.

In December of 2008 my friends who had taken me in brought me to Lone Tree Community Church, which has turned out to be the most amazing church family which I have ever known. The blessings that I have received through this church alone would take hours and hours to recount-not the least of which are the unlimited opportunities to develop the ministry skills for which I had trained at ORU.

In May of 2009, the Lord provided me with a full-time job and I was then able to start getting back on my feet and paying rent. Although the position has been extremely stressful, the upside is that I have been able to work virtually unlimited overtime.

One year ago, I was in poor health because I had no health insurance and had run out of thyroid medication which I needed to take daily. I now have a full-benefits package through my job and have restored to great health.

One year ago, I was under extreme financial stress and I was being hounded by multiple collectors. This year, I have been able to resume tithing and being a blessing to other people. In March of 2010, by the grace and favor of God, our department received a bonus in spite of our not having met any of the required metrics. So far this year, I have paid off three high-interest debts-two of which had previously gone to collections-and I anticipate paying off a fourth debt by the end of this year. In addition, I now have the cash to be able to afford some long-needed dental care.

In December of 2009, I had to move out of my friend’s home due to a clause in their covenant bylaws. Immediately, the Lord opened the door for me to move into the most luxurious apartment in which I have ever lived. Since I did not have a bed, my church secretly took up an offering and blessed me with a brand new bed, complete with all the bedding, a skirt, and a headboard.

Last Christmas, I was blessed with the most expensive pair of dress shoes that I have ever owned, and my roommate blessed with two brand new coats – A Calvin Klein wool coat which was a direct answer to prayer, and an Eddie Bauer down jacket. Since then, I have been continually blessed with more and more clothing by others. While I have always understood that God takes care of my needs, I have come to experience the unlimited lavishness of His love for me.

I have been a Christian for twenty-five years; but by virtue of being around a group of people who passionately love Jesus and are pursuing Him, I, too, have grown into a greater intimacy with Him than I have ever known in my life. I have always relied on study aids like commentaries to understand the Bible and have only known Jesus for the most part on an intellectual level; but now I am able to read the Bible without any aids and am consistently receiving revelation from the Holy Spirit alone. I have a newborn hunger to know and experience Jesus and His Word.

Psalm 68:6 says that God sets the solitary in families. I am so grateful that He has made this verse a beautiful reality in my life.
